|
|
Recommendations
Recommendations for Integration:
- This inquiry-based RWLO can be used as a
supplementary / additional activity when used in conjunction
with an African-American Literature or American history course
to provide students with the opportunity to better understand
the economic, social, cultural, and political forces upon
slavery at the time through the use of primary sources.
Additionally, you may select to have students compare the slave
narratives from this RWLO with accounts from novels such as
The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American
Slave,
The
Confessions of Nat Turner, etc.
|
Back-up:
- Print-out all of the materials referenced
in the Content Material section of this web site and provide
sufficient copies to your students. At a minimum, each student
should have their own copy of the student worksheet and could
share copies of different slave narratives referenced in the
activity.
