Time: Approximately 30 minutes.
Materials:
Student
Directions and computers with Internet access OR print-outs of
the
Freud on the Macbeths and
What is Psychoanalysis web pages.
Implementation: It
is highly recommended that this RWLO be implemented after
students finish reading Shakespeare's Macbeth. It can
be assigned during class time if each student or group of
students has access to a computer and the Internet.
Otherwise, it should be provided as an out-of-class assignment.
Steps:
- Provide access to the
Student
Directions and/or print and
distribute the Student Worksheet (macbeth.doc
- 135 KB) located in the Content Material section of this RWLO.
- Review the instructions with the class as needed. Students should
first respond to the questions in Part A related to Lady
Macbeth's character, actions, and behaviors.
- Students should then read the
Freud on the Macbeths criticism until
"The accession of James I was like a
demonstration..."
and answer the corresponding questions as described in Part B.
- Once completed, students should review the short description
of psychoanalysis
and respond to the questions in Part C. The students'
responses may be discussed in class once completed.
