Recommendations for Integration:

This problem-based RWLO can be used either in a Math, Science, or History of Math & Science classroom to demonstrate the relationship between the central angle and the sun angle, Eratosthenes' amazing experiment and calculations, and/or how proportional strategies can be used to solve problems.

Back-up:

Print-out all of the materials referenced in the Content Material section of this web site and provide sufficient copies to your students. At a minimum, a copy of each of the materials used should be provided to each group of students. To calculate the north-south distance, students can use rulers and maps to estimate the distance based on the scale provided with the map.
