Square Observations

After predicting what they will find in their "squares", students or groups of students conduct their own observations and compare them to their earlier predictions.  The student observations below were made last year...

This student drew a picture showing what she thought she would find in her square of life and then wrote a few sentences about it (

Lindberg Schools, Carlstadt, New Jersey).

The student then visited her square and drew the picture above to show what was actually found.  She labeled the objects in her diagram and also annotated it with a few additional words at the bottom of the worksheet (Lindberg Schools, Carlstadt, New Jersey).

Students work in groups to make their observations.

Cooperative learning is a major part of the project.

Students learn the value of teamwork.
