Local Environments
Teachers
are provided with student-centered activities that allow young
children to construct their own definition
of "environment".
Students
begin by mapping their
classroom and school and describing the objects that they find.
The information that
students collect is shared via
postings to the project discussion area.
Instructions: Take a few minutes
to review the sections below that illustrate these
aspects of the project.
I
had thought that the group writing the introductions would be
disappointed at not working with the maps or drawing maps. I
was wrong! Everyone wanted to be the group to write the
information that was going to be on the Internet. This was
my first experience of the power of an Internet audience on
student writing!
