Whether it is learning about the governments of other countries or the daily events that are impacting on its citizens lives, subject specific resources can provide an exciting window into the cultures of other communities around the world.

One obvious cultural different between many countries and even communities is the language that is spoken.  Let's take a look at how we can take advantage of these differences and turn them into educational opportunities.

Scenario: Imagine that you are engaged in a Collaborative project such as the Water Sampling Project. Your students have just noticed that one of the participating schools is located in Columbia, South America. They are excited about the opportunity to communicate with these students, however you are aware of the language differences...
