What's the Difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web?
- The Web is just one part of the Internet.
- Web pages can include text, graphics, animation, video,
sound, and most importantly, links to other web pages.
- Other parts of the Internet include Email, Telnet, FTP,
Gopher, and Newsgroups.
- Usually web addresses start with http:// but in
newer versions of web browsers, this is not always necessary.
- Many web addresses have www in them but this is
not necessary (i.e. http://k12science.stevens-tech.edu)
