The Experiment |

All
the students did the same investigation; they went to a fresh water source
near their school, collected samples, and identified the organisms.
|
"They come in eager to get
started, they stay on task, there are fewer behavior
problems, and their persistence is much greater than
in more traditional lessons."

This classroom activity was a traditional
middle school experiment that was enhanced using today's technology.
Therefore, there was no concern about spending valuable class time on an
activity that was outside traditional curriculum.
Look at the slides
below to see five pictures taken on P.S. 22's field trip to do their
water sampling. These pictures were taken with an ordinary
35mm disposable camera. The pictures were scanned and placed
on the original website several hours after the field trip.
