CHEMISTRY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

 Project Overview

The objective of this RWLO is to introduce the concept of intellectual property, specifically US Patents, to the chemistry student.

The student will gain experience in accessing and searching the database of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, (“USPTO”).

The student will attain an understanding of some of the fundamental components of a patent.

This RWLO was developed for a college level organic chemistry class and utilizes the most important pharmaceuticals, as identified by the American Chemical Society, as example data.

Through selection of other example search topics, nanotechnology, stem cells, etc., the RWLO is easily adaptable to other disciplines
