INTRODUCTION TO MULTIMEDIA DESIGN AND PRODUCTION
Pilot Program Opportunity for High School Teachers

We are looking for teachers to pilot and evaluate a STEM-rich multimedia design and production course for high school students. The 9-week unit will introduce students to the fundamentals of multimedia and video production through hands-on experiences, collaboration and creative thinking with particular emphasis on the engineering design process, relevant science content knowledge, and documentation of design decisions and supporting rationale in a design log. Students work in teams to reach creative decisions about a storyline, audio components, animation/visual components and production strategies necessary to produce a short animated video. The project advantages the near universal appeal and interest of students in music, video and technology to promote an: (1) understanding of engineering design and physics in the context of multimedia production, and (2) appreciation of the fundamental role of STEM in popular culture. A central goal of the project is to increase the interest and participation of girls and underrepresented groups in STEM.
All selected teachers must attend a one-week summer institute July 9 – 13, 2018 at Stevens Institute of Technology that will provide a hands-on experience with the curriculum. There is no fee for attending. For more details and to apply please see Teacher Flyer and Application.
