Classroom Activity: Population Explosion

Note: This classroom activity is an adaptation of a larger lesson that is part of the Stevens Institute of Technology's Population Growth Project.  You will have time to explore the expanded version of the activity as well as other lessons in a few minutes.

Activity Instructions:

1. Access the World Population Clock.  (Alternate Version) 
   The clock provides an estimate of the world population every second.
2. Record the population growth that takes place in the span of one minute.
3. Calculate the estimated growth rate per day and per week.
4. Record the growth rates on a piece of paper.
