How could I assess students on individual work when they worked together in a group so frequently? 

  • Used journal entries and research reports for individual grades

  • Students created a brochure about earthquakes according to the guidelines given in project

  • Students selected examples of their work to be included in a portfolio

  • Assigned oral presentation grade to Reporter role

  • Students could optionally create a PowerPoint presentation or other multimedia presentation to document what they learned

My Internet connection was notorious for going down during a class.

  • Had back-up printouts of real time data that groups could use.

  • Students also used traditional resources for research
