Saint Kieran School 700 West 195th Street Chicago Heights IL 60411
Greetings from Illinois to all other participants in the water sampling projects!
St. Kieran School is a parochial school in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Chicago Heights is a town located approximately 30 minutes south of Chicago. It is also about 10 minutes west of the Illinois/Indiana border.
Our school holds about 210 students which range in age from 4 to 14 years old. The classes range from Pre-Kindergarten to Eighth grade. Each class has about 20 students. Our school colors are green and white, while our sports team are called the Fighting Irish and Lady Irish. Boys in grades 4th through 8th have the choice of playing football, basketball, or both. Girls in grades 4th through 8th can play basketball, volleyball, or both.
Our junior high classes(6th-8th grade) did the collecting of our water samples. We were able to collect samples from five sources. One sample was taken from Lake Hemlock in Marcellus, Michigan. The other four were taken from the following: Kankakee River, Calumet River, Butterfield Creek, and Lake Michigan, all of which are located in Illinois.
Good Luck with your sampling,
Mike Jedlicka and samplers from St. Kieran School
