The name of our school is Howard D. McMillan Middle. The total population of students is 1,701 pupils in grades six through eight. We are eighty seventh grade students participating in the global water sampling project. The school is located at 13100 Southwest 59 Street in West Kendall which is a large suburb of Miami in the "Sunshine State" - Florida. The latitude and longitude location of our school is apporximately 26 degrees north and 81 degrees west. The school is located in a middle class residential community with nearby lakes and canals often used for recretion. There is evidence of moderate land and water pollution. Our waters, however, are still home to a variety of water animals such as ducks, frogs, fish and turtles. As expected, there is also an abundance of plant and algae in these waters. As a class, we came up with the following thought:

Save a drop...water means a lot; Water is cool...don't be a fool; Water for youth...that's the truth; Water's cool...learn about it in school.

We hypothesize that the oxygen levels of our suburban waters will be higher than urban water samples but lower than colder suburban regions. The overall water quality of our lakes and canals will be better than tose sampled in urban regions.
