The Mathematical Secondary School "Academician Kiril Popov" is situated in Plovdiv. Plovdiv is the second biggest town in Bulgaria. It is situated in the Thracian lowland , which is the richest region in growing vegetables . The town is crossed by Maritza river , in which fall the waste waters of many factories . That is why we made our purpose to analyze water from this region for contents of nitrates , phosphates , oxygen and PH . For pupils ( students ) at the age of thirteen up to fifteen take part in the experiment . We analyze waters from the towns Krumovo and Kuklen and tap water from the town ( Plovdiv ) .

Town Plovdiv Krumovo Kuklen Standard

PH 3 2 1 7.2 - 7.3

Digested oxygen O2 6 ppm. 8 ppm. 8 ppm.

- Nitrates 0.01 ppm. 0.1 ppm. 0.1 ppm. 6 - 10 mg/l

Phosphates - - - 0.5 mg/l

Biological drain of oxygen - - - -

Muddiness - - - 1.5 mg/l

Bacterium coli - - - 1/100 cm3

microorganisms In standard In standard In standrad 50/1 cm3

We also analyzed water from Maritza river :

PH - 1

Nitrates - 0.2 ppm.

Phosphates - /

It is muddy.

As conclusion we may say that the water of these settlements is according to the standard.
