We are students at Bridgeport High School, located in Bridgeport, West Virginia, USA. Bridgeport is located next to Clarksburg, in north central WV. Bridgeport is a suburb with a population of about 20,000 people. We are located in Harrisson County.
Our high school is home to 852 students in grades 9 through 12 and 73 faculty members. Our building was constructed in 1963 and since then there has been three major additions. The most recent was completed just at the end of the last school year. Our principal is Mr. Lindy Bennett and our assistant principal is Mr. Jim Romeo.
We have a variety of classroom environments; a theater room, several large science labs, a gymnasium, three state-of-the-art computer labs, a Technology Opportunity Center, and many ordinary classrooms.
Students at Bridgeport enjoy participating in or attending events for football, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, volleyball, softball, golf, swimming, track, cross country, and other sports. We have a Quiz Bowl team and a Journalism and Media department that produces "The Indian Insider," a TV news show for our school, every morning, as well as the school newsletter and yearbook. We offer several different Advanced Placement classes as well as classes offering aid to slower-learning students. Our school runs a Key Club, a Student Council, an International Club, and several other organizations.
Our students boast numerous academic and athletic acheivments. We have had the best standardized test scores in Harrisson County for a consecutive 12 years. Our cheerleading team, band, and golf team have all been recognized in their excellence with awards, as well.
Our school building is between a newly-built middle school and an elementary school. There is a creek and a city park behind the school. The pavillions in the park are often used as classroom settings, whether for purposes such as water testing or just for fresh air.
Our town is a suburb with two shopping malls and many independent stores. There has been a great influx in our population for the past few years, because of employees of the new FBI Fingerprinting Center moving in. We have mountains and greenery surrounding the town on all sides.
We hope that this has helped you gain a better understanding of the students that you will be working with and their environment. Thank you.
