Gahanna Middle School East: Gahanna, Ohio, USA

Dear Fellow Participants:

Gahanna Middle School East is located in Gahanna, Ohio. Gahanna is an eastern suburb of Columbus (That is why we like to cheer on the Ohio Stae Buckeyes!). Columbus is the capital of Ohio and is in central Ohio.

There are many different activities in the community of Gahanna. The Gahanna football games, the flea market, the Gahanna haunted houses, and the fourth of July fireworks are some of our favorites. The Gahanna football games are a chance to cheer our team, the Gahanna Lions, talk to friends, and meet new people. The flea market is held in the Fall. It is a chance to meet friends and buy new crafts. The Gahanna haunted houses are the scariest in the state because we have lots of volunteers to help with props and work the houses. It's fun to go with friends and family, but be prepared to be scared! Gahanna has a great fireworks display every 4th of July. Gahanna is a great community and we are proud to live in it. (written by Lindsay Brandyberry, Nikki Mercurio, Matt Haycock, and Paul Smith)

Gahanna Middle School East (GMSE) is one of three middle school in Gahanna. We have about 540 students in grades 6-8. GMSE has a friendly atmosphere. It contains large classrooms, small lockers, friendly teachers and is active in sports. (Lisa Billups, Marla Anderson, Jonathan Lavy, and Amy Smith)

At GMSE we have many school activites. The sport teams consists of football, basketball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, track, and cross country (running). All grades can participate in ski (snow) club, golf club, and the chess club. Lots of the students are also interested in sports outside of school such as soccer and baseball. Everyone in the school either has to participate in band, choir, or strings. GMSE is a great place to learn! (Ryan Atkinson, Katie Trejo, Jennifer Carley, Maggie Dailey, Stacy Devendorf, Leslie Herbst, Monica Carver, Chris Mack, and Matt Malone)

The Sixth Grade Science classes have been involved with the Stream Quality Monitoring Program since 1987. With that program identification to determine water quality of several streams and rivers in the area. We saw the Global Water Sample Project as an extention of what is already covered in our studies. We are glad to be part of this project and look forward to comparing results with all of you!
