HELLO FROM NASHUA-PLAINFIELD HIGH SCHOOL BIOLOGY!!!
We are Biology students in a high school of about 300 kids Grades 9-12, ages 14-18. Our school day runs from 8:30 to 3:15. Our communities (we are a consolidated district of two towns 7 miles apart) are in Northeast Iowa,USA and both are located on the Cedar River, where the samples will be taken. We have about 20 students in each of the 3 sections that will be participating in this project. We have just completed units on using the scientific method of inquiry, ecosystems, habitats, biomes, biotic and abiotic factors, and organism interactions. Our school just got Internet last year and this kind of project is new to us, but we are all looking forward to it.
We are mainly a Caucasian student body with about 50% of the students living on farms surrounding our towns. The towns that we live in are agriculturally based with a trailer construction company being the largest business in either town. Nashua has about 1200 people and Plainfield has about 600. In order for us to see movies, eat at McDonald's or Pizza Hut we must drive about 10 miles to other towns.
HAPPY SAMPLING!!
