Waynesboro High School is located in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. Waynesboro is located in the south central part of the state on the eastern side of the Cumberland Valley. The Cumberland Valley is part of a chain of mountains known as South Mountain. For U.S. Civil War buffs we are right on the Mason-Dixon line approximately 60 minutes southwest of the state capital of Harrisburg. Waynesboro is currently celebrating it's 200th birthday being established in 1797 as the town of Waynesburg. Having received its name from Civil War general, "Mad" Anthony Wayne.

Our school is a large, very long, two story building that is quickly getting over populated. We currently have 1400 students in grades 9 through 12. The school colors are Blue and Gold or as the students from the International School of Kuala Lumpur would say "Biru" and "Emas". The school has a large variety of courses to offer students and many after school activities and sports.

Our GLOBE teacher, Mr. Toth was in the first group of GLOBE teachers to be trained two years ago. With his help we have developed a semester, (half year), course based on the GLOBE protocols here at our school. The class is made up of mostly juniors and seniors. Daily, we visit a site between our high school and middle school which has a spring, stream and pond. We do our soil protocols near a greenhouse in back of our school. As part of our grade for the course all students in the class must become familiar with all GLOBE protocols. The class favorites are using the GPS unit and working at the pond site. Students in our class also work with a weather station and study meteorology. The GLOBE protocols work well with all the weather activities. It's a pretty neat course.

Hello, from Mr. Toth's Environmental Studies Class!
