For the second year, the students at PS22 in Jersey City have teamed up with the world to test fresh water. This year the investigation has two purposes:

• To see if students all over the world will find the same organisms in their fresh water even though they may be thousands of miles away
• To test the water for certain physical and chemical elements to see if there is a relationship between the chemicals in the water and the organisms that are found there.

The Organisms We Found

What We Tested

Each class attempted to test for the 9 major water quality factors. To find out more about the test, click on it. We tested for:

• Temperature
• pH
• Dissolved Oxygen
• Biochemical Oxygen Demand
• Phosphates
• Nitrates
• Fecal Coliform
• Total Solids
• Turbidity
