Hello everyone,
We are students from Lowell Science and Math Magnet Middle School located in Phoenix, Arizona at 112.1 degrees west longitiude and 33.4 degrees north latitude. At Lowell there is 675 students, 118 of which are seventh and eighth graders, who participate in seventh and eighth grade combined classes. here at Lowell we are very respectful to our teachers and staff who are preparing us for high school. Lowell is having a new building constructed for new classes and a new office the old office is turning into a science lab for the school.
In Phoenix, the summertime temparature is around 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) and during the winter 20 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit).
Arizona is well-known for copper mining, the Grand Canyon, and Cinco de Mayo. On the day of Cinco de Mayo, people dance and sing to Mexican music and eat mexican foods like enchiladas (corn tortillas, cheese, beans, and hot sauce), tacos (crunchy corn shells with meat, cheese, and vegetables), burritos (flour tortillas with beans, meat, and vegetables wrapped in it), and tostadas (crunchy corn circles with beans, meat, cheese, and vegetables on it). Women wear colorful dresses and the men wear black pants, boots, white shirts, and sombreros (very big hats). For New Years, Arizona residents have parties with dancing and eating, the same Mexican foods, hamburgers, and hot dogs, until 12:00a.m. when everyone screams "Happy New Years!"
We are looking foward to participating in the world wide experiment and submitting information from Phoenix, Arizona.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Lowell Science and Math Magnet Middle School
