Final Report: December, 2002

Mountain Shadows Elementary School (5th Grade), Phoenix, AZ, USA

Our 5th grade classes at Mountain Shadows Elem. School in Phoenix, AZ has finished our project. We have been combining The Wonderful World of Weather with the Sun Times Project, so we have been very busy learning about and making weather instruments, and learning about lat/long, and where to find this information - like in an atlas, or a book of maps. We now understand why we have times of the year when we have more daylight than darkness, and why our location in the world has the temperatures it does. We have made graphs of the information we collected, and even made some of our graphs on computers. It was interesting to find out the Beijing, China is just about on the same latitude as us!!! That's weird! Since they are on the opposite side of the world, they are having their spring/summer time, and we are having our fall/winter time. Each of us has made a booklet to take home showing all of the things we have been doing.
