Global Sun Temperature Project
FALL 2001 - FINAL REPORTS
Josiah Haynes School in Sudbury, MA, USA
Hello again it’s the “surfing cows” with our final report. We believe that the explanation to why it is warmer near the equator is the world is on an axis. The equator divides the world equally into to a northern and southern hemisphere. In the orbit of the planets, the sun will shine at the equator more because the equator is in the middle of the earth. This will probably increase the amount of sun light per day, which will also increase the heat in that certain area. After looking at all the data listed, we noticed that the places that were the hottest, were the ones nearest to the equator, such as the Philippines (31.37 ºC) and the northern part of Australia (33.4 ºC). Canada, however was rather cold, seeing as how it is no where near the equator.

We enjoyed working on this weather project, and hope to participate in it again.
