Missouri is known as the Show-Me State. We also have other nicknames-such as the Cave State and the Gateway to the West.
Farmington is a small community located approximately 70 miles south of St. Louis. We are also 30 miles from the Mississippi River. Our exact location is 37.8 degrees north and 90.4 degrees west of the equator. The temperature is 79 degrees at 3:55 p.m. (CDT). Our school (Washington-Franklin Elementary) is just one of 7 schools in the district. Our building has grades 1-4 with approximately 600 students. We are a class of 24 fourth graders. We are part of a state project (eMINTS) whereby there is a computer for every two students in the class. We are anxiously awaiting the start of this project.

Hello to Mrs. Johnson's Class,
It sounds like the weather is warmer where you are. It is only about 16 or 17 degrees celsius over here at the moment.

We have 30 in our class and 366 in our school,. We are very jealous of all you computers - we only have five which is alot compared to most of the schools around us.

We are really looking forward to taking part in the experiments soon. Hope to hear from you again,

Your friends in DIngley

Thanks for the reply. The kids were excited to see an email from Australia. Today has been a beautiful day. The leaves are starting to turn bright colors-red, yellow, green, and orange. Our school district is the home of the Knights. but our elementary school has a mascot of a dolphin. We have a stuffed dolphin that has been busy visiting many of our houses. It has been to birthday parties, camping, baby showers, etc. Do you have a mascot at your school? We are getting ready for parent-teacher conferences. The students are also invited at this time. Since we have so many computers, we have been Powerpoints that we show to our parents.

Keep in touch.

Mrs. Johnson

Hello,

My name is Joshua Koen and I am the project leader for this project, the Global Sun Temperature Project. I was very excited to read that you were making PowerPoint presentations. Are the presentations about this project or other work that you are doing in the classroom?

If you make any PowerPoint presentations about your participation in this project, we would love to see them and I can link it off of the project web page. A teacher during the last run created a presentation and entered it into their science fair and actually won the grand prize.

Please let me know,

We will be completing a Power Point about this project. I'll make sure and save it. The kids are anxious to begin. We have been practicing reading temperatures. Enjoy your day.
