Hi,

My hypothesis was that the farther north (latitude) you go the more minutes of sun light you will have. This hypothesis proved to be correct. This is because as the earth spins around the sun it also tilts on its axis. When it tilts, it goes back and forth so at times the northern hemisphere is closer to the sun and at other times, the southern hemisphere is closer. My graphed data illustrated this.

My hypothesis for temperature was that the closer you are to the equator, the higher the average temperature would be because the equator is always closest to the sun. But when I graphed the data, I saw that latitude is not the only thing that affects the temperature. For example, most of the participants in this project were located between 35 and 45 degrees latitude, so I thought that their average temperature would be similar. I was wrong. There is a school (Woodrow Wilson Jr. High) whose latitude(41.1)is similar to mine(41.84). However, their average temperature was 30c whereas mine was 12.7c. My conclusion is that latitude does affect temperature but it isn't the only variable.

I have had such a good time participating in this project and meeting people from all around the world.
