Dear schools around the world.
We are 3/4 from Anderson's Creek P.S in Warrandyte, Victoria, Australia. We are situated at 145 degrees East and 38 degrees South in the southern hemisphere. Our school is in a very bushy area. We have lots of classrooms, a Basketball stadium, play areas, a library next to our classroom, an art room and a large oval. There are about 470 children from P-6. Warrandyte has the Yarra River flowing through it. Warrandyte is like a country town. We have many State Parks and see lots of native animals. Anderson's Creek in Warrandyte was the first place in Victoria to discover gold. There are still gold mines here today. Our school logo is the gold poppethead that was used in the old mines. Warrandyte is a fantastic place to live in because its got great bush walks, festivals and it's a peaceful and safe place to live. Here are some of our web projects where you can read about our community.

Hello and Greetings Anderson's Creek Primary School,
I looked at your Cyberfair 2001 web site and loved it. What a great idea to create a site describing some of the local artisans and historical leaders of your town. I saw some pictures of some of the Warrandyte leaders with some students; Is this your class?? How many local leaders visited your class? I know of a web site that lets students submit summaries of their "heros" and publishes them with other pages. It's web address is http://www.myhero.com <-- check it out. This project was just recognized as the #1 project under the Not-for-profit category for the Childnet awards (www.childnet-int.org/awards).
I also watched the Real Player movie of Melbourne and particularly liked the jazz music playing in the background, I am a jazz fan.

Hello Joshua,
We enjoyed making our local Leaders project. We didn't have any of our leaders visit our classrooms, but the Grades 1 and 2's and 5's and 6's did. We visited some of our local leader's buildings and saw where they lived. We went to our Governor's House, The Shrine and Latrobe's Cottage.
We will be looking at our daylight hours next week.

Hello Grade 3/4r,
Thanks for your response :-) Did you know that the sunrise here in New Jersey is around 5:00 am in the morning? and the sunset is around 8:00 pm. I wonder why these times here in New Jersey and your time in Australia are different?
