Tawas(tawuz) City Elementary is located west of the tip of the thumb of Michigan, on the northwest shore of Saginaw Bay which is part of Lake Huron. "Huron" and "Tawas" are North American Indian names, but we do not have any "Indian" decendants going to school here. Our town was developed in the 1800's during the lumbering era, when huge White Pine trees were cut down to make lumber for the rapidly expanding United States.
In this school we have 4th grade through 6th grade. There are about 450 students all together. Mr Stoddard is the science teacher for all the fifth grade students. We are in what is called a departmental system of organization, which means we change classes all day long. We have six different teachers during the day, but stay with the same group of students all day. Mr. Stoddard choose to have his group participate in this project. We hope to hear back from some far away places.

HI:
I am from Livingston Junior High School and I'm in the seventh grade. I will be recording you temperatures for our class. I still need to know your global position (latitude and longitude) to enter on our maps.
I hope I learn a lot from this project. You can find out about our town in our letter of introduction.
Sincerely,
Dustin

The information you need is now listed in our final report. You may also find information about lat/ long. for other places you might want to plot by accessing the site from this activity that lists ANY place in the world and then tells you the lat/long after you type in the place by name.
Tawas City MI is located at 44 degrees 16 min. 2 sec N
