The sand dunes close to us are used by many people, especially those who live in large cities within easy traveling distance from us. We are about 3 hours from the Los Angeles area and 2 hours from San Diego, CA. During times of the year when the weather is nice (Thanksgiving to Spring) some weekends the dunes have as many as 20,000 to 30,000 visitors with sand buggies, motorcycles, and other ATV's. We have students from 3 elementary schools in our District because we are a small District and this is a special program for academic challenge and we make it available to students at the three schools. How do people use the sand dunes in your area? Are any of the dunes protected from vehicle traffic? We would like to hear from you again.
