Dear Dan Russell:
Hi we are a group of student's from Mazapan School in La Ceiba Honduras. Our country is located in Central America. In our school we play basketball, and other sports. We hope we can learn more about you and your school. New Year’s
New Year’s is celebrated December 31st. Many people wear different types of clothes. Some people wear elegant clothing than others. But mostly all girls wear dresses and men wear long pants and a tie. Some people have the same tradition, like eating 12 grapes at 12:00 midnight and some people throw firecrackers. Some foods that people eat are: tamales, turkey, or pig. Some people listen to Christmas music or listen to different types of music. Some people also reunite with their families.
Carnaval
Our carnaval is celebrated on May 14th. Many people wear jeans or they wear shorts. Some of the traditions are going to the parade. Then in the night the people go to the party that is in the streets. In the parade the music that most of them have is the “Punta” is a traditional dance here in La Ceiba. We do not have a traditional feast. But we mostly eat what they sell in the parade. It is mostly barbecue or pinchos. The music that we listen to in the parade is punta and merengue. People dance to the rhythm of the beat. Many people are on floats and dance.
