Sincere greetings to every one.
We are writing to you from the New Century School in Karachi Pakistan. Ours is a K-10 private school with about 200 students. Karachi is a large metropolitan port city in southern Pakistan.
Our country Pakistan displays some of Asia’s most magnificent landscapes as it stretches from the Arabian Sea, its southern border, to some of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges in the north. Pakistan is also home to several awe inspiring archeological sites that date back to word’s earliest civilizations or settlements rivaling those of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Located in South Asia, Pakistan shares an eastern border with India and a north-eastern border with China. Iran makes up the country’s south-west border and Afghanistan runs along its western and northern edge. The Arabian Sea is Pakistan’s southern boundary with 1,064 km of coastline.
The country has a total area of 803,940 sq km with a land area of 778,720 sq km and is nearly four times the size of the United Kingdom. From Gwadar Bay in its south-eastern corner, the country extends more than 1,800 km to the Khunjerab Pass on China’s border.
The coordinates for Karachi are 24:54:00N 67:09:00E. We are thousands of miles away, on the other side of the world, from most of the schools participating in this project. Therefore, we hope to add to the diversity of discussions that may take place in this forum. Several students from grade 5 through grade 9 are participating in this project.
Today, on 26th April, the weather in Karachi was clear, sunny and humid (84%). The low-high temperature ranged between 27-31 degrees Celsius.
We are all very excited about this project. We are confident that we will have an opportunity to share meaningful insights with the rest of the group that will help enrich our collective learning experience.
