Letter of introduction AMG Ettlingen

Posted by Klasse 6c AMG Ettlingen / Germany on Monday, 8 May 19100, at 5:45 a.m.

Hi! We are 25 pupils (16 boys and 9 girls) in our class 6c of the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium in Ettlingen. Our form teacher is Mr Spathelf and our English teacher Mrs Licht. She helps us with this letter, because we have only been learning English for one and a half years. We are from six districts of Ettlingen, some of them located high up in the Black Forest foothills and others situated amidst the typical meadows covered with fruit trees, which stretch as far as the Rhine Valley.

Our school Albertus Magnus - a famous medieval universal scholar - gave the school its name. He lived from 1193 till 1280. In 1993 we celebrated our school's 25th birthday. You can learn three foreign languages (English, French, Latin) at our school. Apart from that, Italian and Russian are offered as extracurricular activities. We can also choose between chess, photo, choir, theatre, football and some other sports. The AMG has got 715 pupils in 22 classes and 56 teachers. The school building is located in Horbach Park. That's a beautiful park with an artificial lake.

Our town Our latitude and longitude is 48.9N and 8.5E. Ettlingen is a very old town in the south-west of Germany, 25 kilometres to the French and 180 kilometres to the Swiss border. It looks back upon 2000 years of history. It is located in the heart of Baden and makes an ideal starting point for magnificent walks, hikes and biking tours in our famous Black Forest. In our castle there are some museums where you can get to know the history of Ettligen. There are such a lot of attractive leisure facilities that you will not be disappointed when you come to see us. There is a very nice open air theatre in the summer, cabaret events and open air music sessions. Come and see for yourself. We are looking forward to having you with us.
