This is the second year that we are participating in the Sun/Temp Project. This year some of our 3rd and 4th grade classes will be a part of the program.
Third Grade
We are two classes of 3rd graders at P.S. # 1 School. We are located in WEST NEW YORK, NJ at 40.47 N Latitude and 74.01 W Longitude. Don't get confused. Most people hear the name of our town and think we are a part of New York State. The fact is that we are directly across the Hudson River from NYC, high atop the Palisades. This gives us a great view of NYC at night.
In school we get to study may different. One of our favorites was seashell life on the NJ shore. We got to go on a class trip to collect our own shells.
WNY gets all four seasons. All the pretty leaves have fallen off the trees and we are eagerly awaiting the first heavy snow fall of the year.

Fourth Grade
West New York is a square mile town located in Hudson County, NJ, at approximately 40 N Latitude and 74 W Longitude. There are somewhere in the area of 50,000 residents in WNY, 1000 who come to our school.
We are a melting pot of cultures. You walk through the main shopping area and are exposed to may different faces, languages, foods, and customs.
The 4th grades in School One are studying weather and its effects on our environment. We are also working on the USA and its diverse landscapes and cultures.
