We are the Year 7 Science Investigating class and we would like to introduce ourselves and the city in which we live.
Our location: by James and Tara.
Coordinates of the city of Canberra are 35 degrees 15 minutes South latitude and 149 degrees 08 minutes East longitude. Our elevation above sea level is about 500 metres. We are 10 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. We are now actually 11 hours ahead because of daylight saving. Our days are now about 14 hours long. Our current sunrise is at 5.47am daylight saving time and sunset is at 7.50pm daylight saving time. It is almost summer here now with day temperatures of about 22 to 28 degrees celsius. Nights are still cool with a temperature range of about 5 to 9 degrees celsius
Canberra is surrounded by hills, mountains and farmland. One of the mountain ranges around us are called the Brindabellas. The great Dividing Range and the Snowy Mountains are also found close to Canberra.

Canberra is the capital of Australia. It is situated in between Sydney (the Olympic City in the year 2000) and Melbourne. Canberra has many features such as Parliament House and Black Mountain telecommunications tower. Our school is close to Parliament House and you can see it from the front of our school. Canberra is very hot in summer(Christmas) and a bit chilly in winter. John Howard is the Prime Minister of Australia.

Our school is a primary and a secondary school located in the Canberra suburb of Barton. Canberra is the capital of Australia. We have about 600 students in the secondary and about 500 students in the primary. Canberra is located in the Australian Capital Territory. It is about 160 km from the Pacific Ocean Coast.
Our school's speciality is languages. You are able to learn French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Indonesian.

Our science class is called Investigating Science. Our teacher's name is Mr Dunlop. He is pretty nice. There are 17 students in the class, they are Jasmine, Lhamo, Karina, Tata, James, Amy, Jessica, Jon, Kate, Mitch, Amir, Brendon, Marlena, Leon, Stephanie, Magda and Candice. Our most recent topic was plants. This is our first Internet project.
