Sandia Preparatory School

Hello from Sandia Preparatory School

We are a private school in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the USA. We have lots of grass and an outdoor campus with a great view of the Sandia Mountains. The teachers here are wonderful because they have great teaching ability and are very tolerant of slow learning.

Watching the sun set from Albuquerque is just awesome. There are brilliant colors in the sky over an arid landscape with three ancient volcanoes on the west side of the Rio Grande river. Mount Taylor sits in the distance behind the volcanoes, and its outline is clearly seen when the sun sets. On the east side lies the immense Sandia Mountains that rise to the elevation of 10,400 feet. Sandia means "watermelon" in Spanish; the mountains are so named because when the sun is setting the light shines on the Sandias at an angle which make the mountains pink.
