Woodlands Elementary School, Longwood Florida
Our school is Woodlands Elementary. My schools environment has a parking lot, gopher tortoise holes, animals, and a lot more critters that you will read about. Our school has some odd things also like mutant bugs and tortoise holes. In my square we found lots of dry stuff like sand, weeds, and holes for tortoises. I’m contrasting with a school from Primghar, Iowa. The school is called “South O'Brien Elementary School.” They are located in Primghar, Iowa and it is very, very cold in Iowa, so their environment might have been a different environment. Some of their findings were: spider eggs, green snake, worms, a butterfly, and the normal things like ants and beetles.
Here are some of the things that are the same in our squares: we each had lots of leaves, growth, dirt, and garbage, ants, fungus, grass, and weeds. And here are some of the things that were different: they had wrappers, bird poop, candy, birdbath, maple tree, aster, and a Russian Sage.
The possible reasons for the similarities and differences in our findings were because the school I’m comparing to is in Iowa and it gets very, very, very cold in Iowa so it could of attracted other animals like snakes and worms. They also could have had different vegetation like different weeds and grass.
The some of the lessons I’ve learned throughout this process is that somewhere up in the upper part of Florida that there can be a very different type of weather change as an example 98 degrees in Florida and 48 degrees in Iowa. It just goes to show you that it can be a totally different world in upper Florida.
