Fairfield, California
We are a third grade class at Cleo Gordon Elementary School in Fairfield, CA. Right now, we have lots of sunshine and our allergies are in full bloom!
Our class had 2 squares of life and we worked in pairs. Our groups are compiling their findings with each other and comparing our squares with Ms. Jamison’s square at Walker Butte K-8 School in Queen Creek, Arizona.
We found lots of similarities between Ms. Jamison’s square and ours, like ants, beetles, flying bugs, spiders, and worms. We also both saw bushes, grass, trees, and weeds. Our squares had dirt, small rocks, mud, plastic and paper too. Lots of the living and non-living things we saw are probably common and that’s why other places in Arizona have them too.
Ms. Jamison’s class found some cool things that we did not,
like lizards and cactuses. We think it’s because both lizards and cactuses may
like sandy areas and Arizona is sandier and more like a desert than
California. They also found crystals in their square. That’s cool!
Our square had some unique things too like more flowers in bloom, because we had
an extra-long rainy season so our flowers bloomed later.
We think our non-living things like paper and plastic are similar because people all over the world litter. We also both had dirt, mud, and small rocks. We wish we could see a picture of Ms. Jamison’s class and their plot!
We enjoyed getting outside and exploring our square. And
it’s cool to compare our environment with other students in another state!
