West Pymble, New South Wales, Australia
Our Lady of Perpetual Succour is a school in West Pymble, NSW, Australia. Our school has approximately 150 students. We are a small school so we always have lots of space for play. We are comparing our squares with the Rebecca Creek Elementary School in Spring Branch, Texas.
Similarities:
Animals: We both have ants, spiders and worms.
Plants: We both grass, trees and weeds.
Other items: We both have small rocks and sand.
Differences:
Animals: We had a beetle unlike Rebecca Creek Elementary. They had flying bugs. Some people from our school thought they saw a witchetty grub which is a worm-like creature which was eaten by Aboriginals who lived in Australia before the white people came.
Plants: We had different plants from the school in Texas because of the different climate and conditions. We found mushrooms (fungus) and people from Spring Branch found bushes. Rebecca Creek also found wildflowers and we found thistle, asparagus fern and chick weed. We also found something called ‘cat’s ear’ and ‘sow thistle’ (another type of thistle.)
Other items: The students of Rebecca Creek School also found dirt and a large rock. They also found a small fossil and a snake hole for a non-poisonous snake. Our school found some paper, a bit of dirt in moist areas, dried leaves, a dead beetle, a little bit of litter (only small bits because we are a very clean school), a chrysalis (a cocoon) and small rocks.
Our Conclusion: Rebecca Creek Elementary in Spring Branch, Texas is alike in some ways although different in other ways. Our Lady of Perpetual Succour enjoyed comparing areas from areas in Texas from here.
