Some of the interesting animal life we found included a stink bug, the caterpillar of an American Dagger Moth, a snowy-tree cricket, a geometer moth larva (inchworm), an orange ladybug, some really long earthworms, velvet mites, a centipede, and pill bugs.

Our forest includes both evergreen and deciduous trees, from saplings to full grown trees. We found a purplish flower we think is a Viper Bluegrass. Some of the trees were pin oaks, lodgepole pine, shagbark hickory, sugar maples, and paper birch. Some of the trees had dried sap on the bark. Some plants showed insect damage. We found dead vines wrapped around some branches. We also found some moss.

Non-living items found from nature included nutshells, dry pine cones, dead leaves, some dead bugs, dead trees and branches, acorns and other nuts, a spider web, and a lot of pine needles. Man-made non-living items included golf balls, ice cream and candy wrappers, part of a baseball, a BB, a used cigarette lighter, bits of styrofoam, part of a garbage bag, and even a dog collar that one of our classmates lost last year!
