Hello from Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove! We have completed our unit on genetics and learned many things. We learned about dominant, recessive, incomplete and codominant genes, genotypes and phenotypes, probability and Punnett squares, mutations and how they effect us, inbrteeding, selective breeding, hybridization, DNA structure and RNA, and sex-linked and sex-influenced disorders. We investigated multiple births, have triplets on our team and met mirror-image twins from our other 7th grade team. Each student chose a genetic topic to research and report back on to the class as an expert. We were surprised to find one of the dominant traits in he trait survey wasn't the most popular trait. We enjoyed being part of the search for the dominant trait. Thanks for the opportunity. Lynne Hubert, 7th Grade Science
