Letter of introduction from Shenandoah Middle School
Comprehensive Science 3 BC & Advanced Academics
Shenandoah Middle School is an inner city school in Miami, Florida in the United States. It is located at approximately 25.75 degrees North Latitude and 80.24 degrees West Longitude in the middle of the "Little Havana" community in Miami.
We have over 1,650 students in our school and 5 to 6 students enter the schoool everyday from Cuba or South America. If these students are in the 8th grade they may come to our teacher Mr. Machado. Our 5th Period ESOL Science class was so large (48 students) that some student's schedules had to be changed. Eleven of us were moved into a new 3rd period ESOL Science class two weeks ago. However, since then twelve new students have entered our class. New people are always cominmg to Miami to visit or stay.
Many people from all over the world visit Miami because of its warm climate and great beaches. Some people decide to stay here with their families. Our city is always growing and developing and using new technology. Shenandoah is now getting computers in almost every classroom with Internet connections. This means that we can do more Internet collaborative projects.
During this last semester the science classes do a unit on human growth and development. It is during this unit that we work on human genetics. We study dominant and recessive traits like non-tongue and tongue rollers and other phenotypes and genotypes. You can find out more about us by visiting Shenandoah's web site at http://www.dade.k12.fl.us/shenandoah.
Sincerely,
