Letter of Introduction from Woodbury High School, Woodbury, NJ 08096 April 27,2000
Woodbury Jr. Sr. High School is located at about 74 degrees east and 40 degrees north, in the state of New Jersey, USA. We are an urban school composed of students from various ethnic backgrounds and diverse types of people. In addition to Caucasian and African American students, we also have Hispanic, Oriental, and Asian students. The town of Woodbury is a very quaint town, with lots of small businesses. Our school houses sixth to twelth grade and is the only high school in Woodbury. All of our students walk or drive to school. Buses are used only for school trips. We have several computer labs in our school where we learn computer basics as well as perform research and activities such as this genetics project.
We have many activities for our students. We have an academic bowl every year where different high school students form teams and compete with one another. Additional programs include Peer Mediation, Youth 2 Youth (drug and alcohol prevention), Big Buffalos (tutoring), and an excellent Ecology club that helps to keep our town beautiful by planting trees and flowers and cleaning up litter.
Our sports teams are also a source of pride. Our football team (the Thundering Herd) won the Group 1 Championship in South Jersey in 1999. We also have very successful basketball, tennis, swimming, soccer, golf, softball, field hockey, track and baseball teams. Our cheerleading squad is great.
In an effort to improve and expand our minds, we have been selected by our science teacher to participate in this project. We plan to participate fully and do the best we can to contribute to the project.
Thank you for accepting this letter. We hope to contribute as much as we possibly can to make the project a success for all!
