Mount Pleasant High School is one of four inner city public high schools in the district of Providence, the capital city of Rhode Island. Rhode Island, the smallest state in the United States, is located on the northeastern coast of the U.S.

Our school is a large, multicultural high school (over 1600 students) with a rich history. The many trophies, plaques, and banners that are displayed in our school remind us that generations of Mount Pleasant High School students have always excelled in a variety of activities.

We became involved with this genetics study because it offered us a hands-on, technology-related opportunity to apply what we had learned about Gregor Mendel's work on dominant and recessive genes during our Ecology class.
