Greetings from the seventh grade ADM G.A.T.E. class!
Our seventh grade G.A.T.E. class of five girls completed the Worldwide Search for the Dominant Trait. We surveyed our entire seventh grade. We learned that all of these traits are genetic... we had never payed much attention to genes before. We hadn't ever realized some of these characteristics.
Our outcome came out mostly as we expected, but we had some surprises. A few of our recessive traits came out higher than the dominant traits. We think it would be cool to add some more facial features to the survey. We were very happy with the ease of the survey.
Everything was easy for us to work with. The way we organized our data was with percentages, tally marks, and bar graphs. Our frequency range was 53% with our highest percentage being 89% (color-blindness) and our lowest being 36% (pinkies).
We found that the Mendel's Law of Genetics worked for many of the surveys.
In our color-blindness test, we had only a few kids that were color-blind.
Most of them inherited it from their other generations, like grandparents.
Thanks for providing us with a fun, challenging project!
