Our class enjoyed this project because we were studying Genetics at
the same time as the project. The project helped us understand what we
were learning. We found the project to be fun, and liked participating
with everyone. We live in such a small community, so this helped us reach
so many others. It helped us to understand dominant and recessive traits
and sex-linked and sex-inherited traits( color-blindness). We went home
and had our parents do the survey and that helped us understand about the
traits being passed on from generation to generation. We found the project
to be easy , the directions were clear and easy to follow. We would particip[ate
in something like this again. The next time we would spend more time on
the project. We were confused by some of the traits, some of us wanted
the straight to be absolutly straight, and the crooked to be definite.
We found some inbetween and weren't sure were to put them. Our color blind
person was not entirely color blind,(missed two) but we listed it anyway.
We enjoyed the traits because they were different from the usual ones.
We would like to see even more different ones. We were suprised by the
fact that the dominant trait is not always the one found, more people have
the recessive trait than we thought. Our studies helped us with that one
- Punnett squares. We used the spreadsheets, computers, calculators, and
our textto help us with information and our math. We were wondering what
the results would have been if people would not have known which trait
was recessive and which dominant - we'll save that one for next year.
