Genetics Project

Final Report

Two eighth grade general science classes participated in the survey. Each student was given a copy of the survey to fill out for themselves and for any family members and friends they chose. We got about 200 total participants at this time. At the end of April our school sponsored an academic open house and some students volunteered to survey visiting parents. The students interviewed over 100 participants this way. Our results confirmed what we had learned from our earlier study of genetics - although at first thought the "dominant" traits should appear more commonly in the population, this is certainly not always the case. It is possible for recessive alleles to be more prevalent.

Our classes enjoyed participating in this survey.
