Dear Participants,

Our school is located in Adel, Iowa. It is about 20 miles west of our state capital. It is located 41 degrees North and 94 degrees West. We have snow and ice in the winter months and in the summer we have hot, humid days. The average temperature varies from 20 degrees to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. In the winter it can get to a -20 degrees or lower. In the summer do do have some days where it gets to 100 degrees.

Our school district takes in three towns. Adel is about 3,090 people, Minburn has about 309 people, and DeSoto has 3,040 people. Our middle school is located in Adel.

In our school there are grades 6, 7, and 8th. In 6th grade there are 108 students, 115 students in 7th grade, and 132 students in 8th grade. Our school day starts at 8:25 A.M. and goes until 3:30 P.M. We take the following classes: art, guidance, health, physical education, math, band, chorus, social studies, language arts, reading, computers, and science. We also participate in organized sports such as: football, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and track.

We are excited about participating in this project.
