Greetings from Millburn Middle School, a community of approximately
750 students and 70 teachers in Millburn, New Jersey. The latitude and
longitude of our county is 40:44:22 North and 074:18:16 West. Eighth graders
will participate in this project throughout the year. We are about 40 minutes
from New York City and directly across the street from the Paper Mill Playhouse,
New Jersey's state theater. We often walk across the street to see a show,
and sometimes the actors perform in our school auditorium. Our little league
baseball team is pretty good- it got to the state level in '93,'94, '96
and '99. Our town has a rich colonial past and there is a plaque indicating
that the Battle of Springfield was fought not too far from our school.
There is also the South Mountain Reservation, which stretches through Millburn,
Watchung, Summit, and Mountainside. For more information on South Mountain
Reservation, check out http://schools.millburn.org/students/smr.html to
see a student authored site. Our town just had some major flooding due
to Hurricane Floyd. We missed two days of school and have to boil our water
before we drink it. We’re looking forward to seeing the results of this
project.
