Introduction

I was surprised to learn I use 3008.5 gallons of water a week. Have you ever wondered how much water you use every week? Would you be surprised? I learned that there are many ways to us water appropriately. One thing I learned is that if you take a shower instead of a bath you could be saving gallons and gallons of water each day. If I myself use 3008.5 gallons of water each week, how much water do you think my whole family uses altogether? I think Americans misuse water. Instead of using water to produce energy we could be using solar energy instead. There are many ways to conserve the earth’s water. I think Americans misuse the advantage of water and don’t think about the future. If leaders don’t step up there may be no way to fix are mistakes in the future. Water is already running low, if we don’t preserve it now there may be none left in the future. Once all the water is gone there will be no way to bring it back.

Body

To start my project I collected data on the amount of times I used water everyday for on week. I then added the amounts of gallons for each category and added the amounts up to get one average for the week. I was surprised to learn I use 3008.5 gallons of water per week. With my data I made a spreadsheet that organized my results into a chart. I also went on the internet and looked more information about this project. I also researched about water across America and how much water other states sue and how they use it carefully. I also looked up useful ways on how to use water carefully without wasting it. When I compared my results with others I found that I use more water than I should be. According to the UCSG the average American uses 80-100 gallons of water per day.

Conclusion

In conclusion my results told me that I use too much water. When I compared my results with others I found that I use hundreds of gallons more then I should be. When I compared my class results with other schools around the country I found that people from Arizona use more water then people in Virginia. I think the reason is because it is hotter in Arizona then it is in Virginia. I have learned that water is not replaceable and it is running low. When I was researching on the internet I found that there are many states that are working together to save water throughout the United States. When I learned about all the many ways people are trying to save water, I wonder how much water is going down the drain as they speak, how much water is being tested, and how much water we use for energy that is also being wasted. We are thinking too much on how to save water, we just need to use it carefully. We use water for about everything which is not a bad thing, usually. People use the water to waste then think about what they did, they say it’s a mistake do it again and think it’s ok. The government and people need to think of ways to let people know why water is important. I learned a lot about water and how to save it. I would encourage teachers to try this project because it will help more people now about water and how to use it.
