Hypothesis:

Our class predicted that we would find organisms that would be unique to only our pond water samples.

We are a first grade class at Wallace Elementary School in Hoboken, New Jersey. We LOVE science! This was the first time we ever used microscopes and they are awesome! Our teacher, Ms. Mitsakos, brought us water samples from a pond in Pennsylvania since we haven’t any in Hoboken.

We were surprised to see that other students found the same organisms in their pond water samples! We found dragonfly nymphs, caddisfly larvae, mosquito larvae, and some really cool snails! Even though our hypothesis was not correct we learned a lot about pond habitats and had fun doing it!
