Students anywhere and any age are welcome to participate in this project! Officially, the boiling point project will run from October 27, 1997 through November 21, 1997. If your class chooses to join the project during its official run, you'll be able to communicate directly with the other schools and individuals participating in the project. You'll be able to discuss via email your class theories and also discuss the results once they are available. Your class work will then become part of the official results page which will be used by classes any time they want to analyze the data. The project results as well as the background information will be available on the page to anyone (regardless of whether your class is registered) at any time.
There's no fee to join.
The schedule for the project is as follows:
| Sept. 22-Oct.24 | Project is open for registration. See registration information below. |
| Prior to Oct. 27 | Introduce project to students. Begin any pre-project activities (i.e. are students familiar with using a computer?) |
| Week of Oct. 27 | Project begins! Students send introductory email messages to participating schools. Web site is updated to show participating schools. Students begin boiling point experiments. |
| Week of Nov. 3
Week of Nov.10 |
Boiling point experiments continues. Results are shared among participating schools and are posted to web site as received. However, all results must be submitted by Nov. 14, 1997 to ensure posting on web site. Students graph and analyze data to determine which factor has greatest influence on boiling point. |
| Week of Nov.17 | Results posted to web site. Follow-up questions and comments from students based on results. Project concludes on Nov. 21, 1997. |

Due to an overwhelming response, we've had to close registration for this project on October 27, 1997. We will probably run this project again in the spring of 1998, so please check the site again at that time for information about the project.
